The Circus is Tango’d
P.J.Tandy's International Circus was Tango'd in October 2004. Soft Drinks giant Tango was running a promotion entitled Tango Great Britons intended to highlight unconventional achievements and endeavours. As our model is one of a comparatively small number of circus layouts in the country it seemed to be an ideal entry. So I filled in the application form, enclosed a couple of photos and submitted it. The application along with a number of others then went to the judging panel which consisted Vic Reeves' (Shooting Stars), Helen Chamberlain and Lloyd Scott (the guy who did the London Marathon in a diving suit). It was a great surprise to find out that the circus was the winning entry for that month.

A press shoot involved setting the layout up once more for the presentation of the Tango Award trophy (bizarrely called a Wibble?!) and the prize of a years supply of Tango. This featured in a number of local newspapers with numerous shots of both the layout and me with my Wibble. The trophy stands out well in the cabinet beside the othe awards the model has received over the years.

At the time of the promotion the model was featured on Tango’s own web site along with other winners of the Tango Great Briton title.

I think it can be safe to say that ‘We knew when we’d been Tango'd!'
